Hidden Truths Project (HTP) was the brainchild of Dr. Julie Thompson-Dobkin in 2011. Hidden Truths, the Mind Unraveled, art exhibits began in 2012, to feature works by individuals with epilepsy, to illustrate and share their lived experiences, in an effort to raise social consciousness on the injustices directed towards these members of our global communities. Within a few years, The Art of Epilepsy evolved into a multi-city event featuring participants from the U.S. as well as Australia, Canada, China, Africa, Ireland, Mexico, Jamaica, Spain, Sweden, India, the U.K., Philippines and Malaysia, each with their unique perspective and story to tell.

After nine years of successful fundraising for epilepsy research, advocacy programs, and camp scholarships for youths with epilepsy, 2020 presented us with a time of great uncertainty stemming from the global COVID-19 health pandemic and acts of racial injustice within our borders.  As the world is sheltered in, we embark on a new path by redirecting our resources to cultivate a stronger online presence through the development of a virtual, interactive gallery to showcase the artist’s work for a virtual 1:26 The Art of Epilepsy.

We have shifted our Mindful-based Art Workshops to a virtual program for now and introduce the 2020 Hidden Truths Project  Empowerment scholarship program for graduating seniors interested in pursuing educational opportunities in the arts, health-related fields, or advocacy programs. We embrace the new ... view more »
