Karin spent the majority of her childhood in Northern California at the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas heavily involved in various forms of artistic expression; anything from drawing, painting and ceramics, to gymnastics and poetry.

At the age of 12, Karin relocated with her family to Orange County in Southern California. She attended El Toro high school and developed an interest in ceramic arts as a senior. She was accepted into multiple juried shows and received awards for her work prior to graduation.

Wanting to continue progessing in ceramic arts, Karin began studying under Richard White paying particular attention to alternative firing techniques such as raku. Under Richard's guidance, Karin attained a greater understanding of horsehair raku and eventually developed her own unique style. It was also during this time that she returned to pursuing artwork on two dimensional plane. After assembling a portfolio, Karin prepared to transfer schools and was eventually accepted into the school of her dreams, the Laguna College of Art and Design.

Currently enrolled at LCAD and working on her BFA, majoring in fine arts, minoring in graphic design, Karin is working hard to learn everything she possibly can from her professors. As mentors and professional artists, her professors' advice and guidance have been an invaluable source of encouragement.

After graduation, Karin will continue in school to achieve her MFA and is planning to start a career in sport design, creating art for snowboards and skateboards.  She hopes to relocate to New Zealand to be immersed in the Maori culture and the beautiful land that so greatly influences her work.
