Based on the principals of Venezuela’s El Sistema, Pacific Chorale Academy provides access to exceptional choral music education in order to promote youth development. By engaging, encouraging and connecting students, teachers and parents, Pacific Chorale and the Newport-Mesa Unified School District empowers the community to value education, embrace shared responsibility and advocate for the success of each participating child.

PC Academy serves 1st through 6th grade students at three school sites. Each participant will have a musical experience focused on cultivating a caring, cooperative and fun community. Musical curriculum will include basic musicianship concepts, rhythmic skills and large/small choral ensemble work. Character building is an integral part of the teaching and learning process. Students come from Pomona, Rea and Mariners elementary schools, and join this program voluntarily.

The Teaching Artist leads a two-person teaching team at each site, and acts as the main link between sites. This teaching team will ensure the highest quality beginning choral experience for students, select repertoire and teaching materials, and support each child holistically. The team will support the program’s El Sistema-inspired philosophy and assist in facilitating community and family involvement.
