Job Description

The Technical Supervisor is a full-time, non-exempt, staff level position reporting to the Event Production Manager for the Musco Center for the Arts. This position works some evenings and weekend work hours.

The Technical Supervisor oversees and works closely with the Master Electrician/Lighting Department Head and the Audio Video Engineer/Sound Department Head to plan, coordinate and execute production needs for the Musco Center for the Arts, which produces a variety of programming and has a diverse group of users – the successful candidate will navigate the season with a desire to foster a collaborative, respectful work environment; a safety-first approach to stage operations; and impeccable, client-oriented service. The incumbent serves in both a supervisory and on-deck working position, which oversees and participates in all on-stage operations including maintenance, load-ins, rehearsals, performances and strike. This position provides hands-on supervision of part-time technicians, temporary staff, student stage crews, and two full-time employees: the Master Electrician/Lighting Department Head and the Audio Video Engineer/Sound Department Head. Additionally, the Technical Supervisor assesses labor needs and schedules staff and employees accordingly.

Requirements: Specific Job Requirements: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Technical Theatre or other closely related field. Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in the field required. In-depth knowledge of performing arts, scene design, lighting equipment and design, audio/video equipment, special effects, theater equipment/facility maintenance. Knowledge of Fire Code as applicable to Assembly Occupancies and related Safety procedures in the interest of patron and user safety. Leadership experience with proven ability to build solid working teams with various skill levels.
