Open to non-profit organizations with valid 501(c)(3) providing programming within Laguna Beach, CA.

In April 2001, the City of Laguna Beach adopted a resolution establishing a business improvement district to promote off-season cultural events and encourage overnight hotel occupancy. The funds made available supports projects that promote tourism and related tourist events. In 2018, the City of Laguna Beach approved a Creative Placemaking Assessment which identified cultural activation sites. Organizations are encouraged to utilize sites within the Civic Arts District for its programming, including but not limited to: Festival of Arts and Sawdust Art Festival, Main Beach Cobblestones, Laguna Art Museum and Laguna Playhouse. The City of Laguna Beach is committed to work with cultural arts organizations to ensure the development and success of a vibrant arts community. Applicants are encouraged to provide expanded programming that deepen and expand active experiences in the arts.

The grant program seeks to:

  • Promote and encourage arts and cultural activities in the city of Laguna Beach.
  • Develop cultural programs that encourage audience participation.
  • Encourage artistic excellence.
  • Develop new audiences for the arts.

In evaluating applications, consideration will be given to the following:

  • Non-profit organizations with functioning programs.
  • Cultural programs that provide the greatest benefits in meeting the cultural needs of Laguna Beach and its visitors.
  • New/ and or expanded services not currently being provided
