Description:

The Merchandise Supervisor reports to the Director of Marketing, PR and Merchandising. The Merchandise Supervisor oversees the planning and operation of the Festival’s seasonal Gift Shop in an efficient and effective manner with attention to maximizing profitability while furthering the Festival’s mission. Also responsible for ordering merchandise, inventory management, and keeping financial records.

Responsibilities include: assists in the selection and production of merchandise items sold in the seasonal gift shop; manages inventory and maintains merchandise stock levels as appropriate; oversees creative organization and merchandising of the gift shop; manages gift shop staff including hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising; assists in development of and adhering to budget; oversees and manages daily operations  including cash handling and point-of-sale systems; supervise staff adherence to safety and security policies; and other duties as assigned.

Hours:

This is a full-time, year-round, hourly position. Work hours off season are generally Monday – Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Must be available to work some nights and weekends during off-season and increased hours, nights and weekends during peak season (June, July & August).

Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent, AS/BS degree preferred; 3 + years’ prior retail operations/management experience such as managing a gift shop, large department of retail store, or equivalent including buying and staff management. Excellent team leadership and customer service skills. Requires excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills. Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Detail oriented, able to handle multiple priorities and follow through with minimal supervision. Able to work nights and weekends as needed. Must be able to meet physical demands of job to include walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling and lifting and move or lift objects up to 20 lbs. Able to work in an outdoor environment in various weather conditions.
