 Westminster, CA, 92683

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Westminster Crossing is the proposed new construction by Meta Housing Corporation (Meta) of 65-units of affordable housing within the City of Westminster. The project aims to create a more vibrant, sustainable, and equitable community within the City’s envisioned “Downtown” activity center. The project will bring vitality to an area which is currently void of pedestrians, expanding the neighborhood to connect to existing and future redevelopment of Westminster Boulevard. The purpose of the murals is to provide a piece of public art of interest to residents and visitors to this major urban corridor that engages, inspires and showcases the diverse community of Westminster.

Artists who specialize in a social practice are encouraged to apply. The City seeks a framework of community engagement in developing the two murals, with the underlying goal of conveying community cohesion. The goal of the project is to reflect a common vision and a sense of belonging for all community members where the diversity of people’s different backgrounds and circumstances are appreciated and positively valued. Community meetings and a panel review process will determine the final selection of the completed artwork.
