The Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton seek a Development Associate to join our team.

Work Schedule:  We are open to part time, full time, or consultant arrangements.  And not all work hours are necessarily on campus.  We realize a modern workforce can be modeled in any number of ways.

Job Summary:  We are looking for a person who can manage relations with both sponsors and donors and be able to create new opportunities in conjunction with the existing team.  The Muck is fairly unique in that money is raised for programs serving disadvantaged communities AND for arts/education projects AND for an about-to-launch Capital Campaign.   Every dollar you can raise will find a home, every donor you develop will find a cause here.  The Muckenthaler is located on 8.5 acres of perfectly landscaped parklands on a hill overlooking Fullerton.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain relationships with current sponsors and develop new ones
  • Maintain relationships with current donors and develop new ones.
  • Brianstorm with various staff on strategy to fund a variety of initiatives.
  • Create collateral material aimed at potential sponsors/donors.
  • Participate (in person) at weekly one hour staff meeting.
  • Attend a variety of key events on the Muck calendar (Annual Gala, Car Show, Jazzfest).
  • And really really really importantly, when you promise something to a sponsor, don't forget to tell the staff member who has to fulfill that promise.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated professionalism, salesmanship, follow-through in some fundraising capacity.
  • Integrity and decency — because your conduct determines how donors/sponsors see us
  • Have a commitment to diversity and proven ability to work effectively with persons of diverse backgrounds and abilities is important. Our staff and our constituency are extremely heterogeneous.
  • Be able to work with wealth screening software and other standard office software.
  • Have a current California Driver's license, valid auto insurance.
  • Be able to effectively manage multiple complex functions and achieve goals and objectives
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills in English.  Bilingual Korean or Spanish a plus.
  • Basic experience working with web sites (no HTML knowledge necessary); i.e. inputting data for websites/web maintenance.
  • Familiarity with CRM Software. ALTRU a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes.

Salary:  Although we believe salary range should be stated in a job listing, not knowing if this will end up being full time, part time, or consultant work, makes that difficult.

To Apply:   Please email your resume and cover letter to Janette Pyun, Chief Operations Officer: janette@themuck.org.
