The Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton seeks an Interim Curatorial Consultant.

Work Schedule:  Flexible, more hours when a show is being hung or dismantled.

Job Summary:  Managing operations of the gallery and its staff, on a part time basis for a monthly fee, while we search for a more permanent situation.  The opportunity exists to put your personal stamp in the shows that are already scheduled for 2022, and to create your own shows as well.   This position includes oversight of our gallery spaces, our sculpture garden, and our murals.  The Muckenthaler is located on 8.5 acres of perfectly landscaped parklands on a hill overlooking Fullerton. 

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage the incoming shows on the 2022 schedule including dealing with artists.
  • Arrange the shipping and delivery of art work when necessary.
  • Design and schedule installation (and de-install) of 4-5 shows per year.
  • Contribute absolutely brilliant ideas on what we should be doing in 2023.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, one hour per week.
  • Keep our communications office up to date on gallery happenings. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Four Year degree in Art History OR requisite equivalent work history.
  • Work well with the public and staff - Integrity, Ingenuity, and Interpersonal Respect.
  • Must have a commitment to diversity and proven ability to work effectively with persons of diverse backgrounds and abilities.  
  • We don't care how much of this is “work from home” as long as you are the person that can handle that. 
  • Have a current California Driver's license, valid auto insurance.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, and Outlook Programs. Familiarity with Google Office.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility and problem solving mentality.
  • Bilingual Korean or Spanish a plus.

Stipend:  Monthly stipend, hours will differ from month to month
