Student Supervision Assistant

There are multiple openings located at various schools throughout the Newport-Mesa Unified School District for Student Supervision Assistant positions.   Positions can range from 30 minutes, 55 minutes, 90 minutes, 110 minutes or 2 hours and 30 minutes per day. This recruitment will be used to fill regular and substitute assignments. Applications are processed to establish a list of eligible candidates by school site or by desire to be a substitute.

Basic Function:  Under the direction of an assigned Principal, or designee, assist in the supervision of students in all areas of the school campus, including the cafeteria, multipurpose room, playgrounds, parking lots, bus unloading/loading zones and areas adjacent to the school, to provide for the safety and well-being of students. Incumbents do not report to a classroom teacher and do not provide academic supportive functions, but are instead primarily responsible for supervising students' behavior and ensuring students' safety.

Minimum Qualifications/Education and Experience:  Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. Graduation from high school or its equivalency and six months of experience in supervising or working with school age students in an organized setting is desirable.
