MUZEO Announces Request for Qualifications for Anaheim Civic Art Piece

Artists, collectives, and creatives are invited to submit their qualifications to create an
exciting new civic art piece in Anaheim. Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center, in partnership with
Anaheim Midway, is overseeing the effort to bring an original, site specific artwork to be created
as part of a larger development initiative that furthers the mission of the City of Anaheim to
create a place for residents to live, work and play.

The Miraflores development, an affordable housing community consisting of a 4- story,
86-unit development for families, is planned for the southwest corner of Anaheim Boulevard
and Midway Drive. The development will feature a civic art piece that will be vital to enhancing
the aesthetics of the community and the quality of life for future residents. The civic art piece
will celebrate the culture and values of the City of Anaheim while embracing the context of the
surrounding community.

As the leading visual arts institution in Anaheim, Muzeo has been contracted to oversee
the civic art project, ensuring that there is deep community involvement, understanding of
Anaheim’s rich history, and artistic excellence. The proposed location of the civic art piece is the
housing development’s exterior wall along Midway Drive and connecting to the interior wall on
the flex community space on the corner of Anaheim Boulevard and Midway Drive. The flex
community space on the ground floor is designed with large floor-to-ceiling windows and will
allow the civic art piece to connect between the interior and exterior.

The complex is in close proximity to the downtown area core, referred to as Center City,
and entertainment and amusement destinations of the Anaheim Resort. Paul Revere
Elementary School and Paul Revere Park are located just north of the development. The
development will provide a safe, healthful and sustainable building that is LEED certified and
incorporates Low Impact Development (LID) best practices.

Interested parties should read through the attached RFQ and submit qualifications to
miraflores@muzeo.org.

Designs are not requested at this time. Final artwork will be decided
after extensive community engagement and feedback. The deadline to submit the RFQ is May 31, 2023 at 5:00PM.
