California Arts Project

The California Arts Project (TCAP) is one of the state subject matter projects dedicated to providing professional development for teachers and administrators K-12, and is designated by the Department of Education as the state educational agency for professional development in the arts. TCAP’s mission is to deepen the content knowledge of the arts, and develop instructional strategies in support of arts education and student success.

The Southern Counties Arts Project serves the counties of San Diego, Orange and Imperial. Located at San Diego State University, this professional development center provides programs and services year-round to Kindergarten through Post-Secondary educators.

Arts Education For Teachers

Program description

Pathways to Understanding the Arts Disciplines Institutes in Dance & Theatre: These institutes are being offered simultaneously to provide the K-6 classroom teacher with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to begin to teach to the K-6 California Dance or Theatre Standards in their classrooms. Teachers will engage in the art form, create units of instruction for their grade level and share student work. Reignite your creativity in your students and yourselves by creating and implementing standards-based units for your classroom.
