Segerstrom Center for the Arts is committed to providing all residents in this region with opportunities to enhance their knowledge of and appreciation for the performing arts. This includes students from elementary school through the university level, educators and individuals who simply want to broaden their experiences but not in a structure that is strictly academic. These programs achieve two especially important objectives: they develop the audiences of the future and, by integrating the arts into the standard curriculum, enhance learning, creative thinking, cognitive and social skills.
On Stage at the Center offers distinguished performing arts companies from around the world who present educational programming to local students. These shows are designed as a starting point to stimulate greater understanding and appreciation of the performing arts. Teacher and student activity guides are developed for each event to continue the learning experience after the performance.

Based on the popular book by Julie Donaldson, Room on the Broom tells the story of a witch and her cat flying happily on their brookstick until a stormy wind blows away the witch’s hat, bow and wand. A helpful dog, bird and frog find the witch’s lost things, and they all hop on the broom for a ride. But – CRACK! SNAP! – this broomstick’s not meant for five. Will there ever be room on the broom for everyone?
