Segerstrom Center for the Arts is committed to providing all residents in this region with opportunities to enhance their knowledge of and appreciation for the performing arts. This includes students from elementary school through the university level, educators and individuals who simply want to broaden their experiences but not in a structure that is strictly academic. These programs achieve two especially important objectives: they develop the audiences of the future and, by integrating the arts into the standard curriculum, enhance learning, creative thinking, cognitive and social skills.
On Stage at the Center offers distinguished performing arts companies from around the world who present educational programming to local students. These shows are designed as a starting point to stimulate greater understanding and appreciation of the performing arts. Teacher and student activity guides are developed for each event to continue the learning experience after the performance.

An empty stage is being guarded by a member of the security service to be sure nothing will go wrong before the performance. When the performance begins, there is, indeed, nothing to be seen and it appears that nothing is going to happen – until an actor tries to enter the stage, and then a lot of things begin to uinravel. From the Netherlands award-winning Theatergroep Max, this silly, comical production makes one consider what constitutes a "performance".
