In conjunction with our new special exhibit, Virgin of Guadalupe: Images in Colonial Mexico, please join us in learning, engaging and pondering about the historical Virgin from an alternative and contemporary point of view. Miguel Domínguez, Ph.D., will be discussing the image of the Virgin through the eyes of contemporary LA Chicano artists. Domínguez's discussion will be juxtaposed with images by these artsits, whom were once affiliated with Self Help Graphics, and he believes these images to be different and unusual yet empowering! Domínguez is chair of the Modern Languages Department at Cal State Dominguez Hills and he is is a past President of the Mexican American Arts Council of the Bowers Museum.
