Susan Brown and Jennifer Keil present at LOCA Art Talks.
Everyone who appreciates fine art will love meeting Art Conservationist Susan Brown. She will present at LOCA Art Talks, presented by LOCA Arts Education. Jennifer Keil, Director of Moulton Museum and Founder of 70 Degrees, will co-present. Attendees will witness the unveiling and condition report of a twentieth century painting by Ruth Peabody, recently discovered in a historic Laguna Beach home.
Brown has restored European masterpieces from Caravaggio to Monet, and American pieces from Billy Al Bengston and Jackson Pollack, to Frank Cuprien and William Wendt. Her clients include Chapman University, The Irvine Company, Laguna Art Museum, Festival of Arts, and Sherman Library, to name just a few.
Brown will show tools, such as heat spatulas, and conservation pigments, used in her studio. “I have so much to cover, and it’s all really fascinating” she said. Brown will share how works come to her, her research and examination process, and how she decides on the proper level of conservation for each piece. “I rely a lot on my clients goals, and how certain pieces fit into their collections.”
Among her clients is the Moulton Museum in Laguna Hills. Director Jennifer Keil will share insights about the Moulton collection, and how Brown’s collaboration is integral to building and preserving their collection.
