Music Faculty Artist Series: Matt Hare, double bass

Music Faculty Artist Series: Matt Hare, double bass

Presented by Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine (CTSA) at University of California, Irvine - Winifred Smith Hall

Music Faculty Artist Series:  Matt Hare, double bass.

Matt Hare is a prolific musician championing the technical possibilities of the double bass in solo and chamber settings. In honor of the 150th anniversary of Serge Koussevitzky’s birth, this program will include works either composed by or for Koussevitzky or commissioned by the Koussevitzky Foundation. Hare will perform on Koussevitzky’s personal instrument on special loan from the International Society of Double Bassists. Guest soprano Courtney Taylor of the LA Opera and LA Master Chorale will join for George Crumb’s Madrigals, Book I. The evening’s premiere of Rob Voisey/Vox Novus’ Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame, a conglomeration of fifteen one-minute works chosen from worldwide submissions, celebrates Koussevitzky’s efforts to cultivate new works.

Generous support is provided by the Marjorie and Robert Rawlins Endowment Fund.
