Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center is pleased to present our new Spring exhibtion, Impossibly Close: Sculptures by Kazu Hiro. The exhibition features the sculptures of Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo, Abraham Lincoln, and Jimi Hendrix.
Accomplished Los Angeles artist, two time Academy Award winning makeup artist and 2024 Oscar Nominee, Kazu Hiro, explored special effects makeup during his teenage years in Kyoto, Japan. Through a blend of mimicry and trial and error, he refined his craft in Hollywood, ultimately receiving Oscars for his notable contributions to films like “Darkest Hour” and “Bombshell.” In a pivotal turn in 2012, Hiro shifted his focus to fine art sculpture, employing materials such as resin and platinum silicone to create remarkable, larger-than-life, hyper-realistic portraits. With unmatched technical skill, Hiro brings his iconic subjects to life, challenging us to confront these larger-than-life personalities face-to-face.
