Closing Ceremony: Sunday, April 21 at 2 pm
The Drepung Gomang monks of India return to Laguna Beach with their Sacred Tibetan Arts Tour. Seven holy men will offer house blessings and share Tibetan culture, sand mandala making, music, and history in free community events from April 14 through April 21 at the Sawdust Art Festival.
The public is invited to experience the amazing weeklong construction of the World Peace Sand Mandala, intricately created from multi-colored sand by monks of the Drepung Gomang Monastery. The grounds will be open to the public and admission is free during the event. Additional programming will be offered on or offsite most evenings.

All are welcome to view the construction of the sand mandala at the Sawdust Art Festival as well as observe morning and evening chanting rituals.
On April 21, the mandala will be dissolved - gently brushed into a pile of sand and offered in small packets to visitors. The monks will then lead a procession to Main Beach to chant and cast the remaining sand into the ocean as a reminder of life's ephemeral nature.

Gomang Monastery interacts with the larger Tibetan community, teaching the three R's in the school, assisting in the hospital and elder care facility, and providing training in Tibetan arts and crafts for the young people of the settlement while offering employment for the local Tibetan and Indian people.
