Create A Hawaiian Tapa

Learn how to make Hawaiian Tapa Art with Girl Scouts of Orange County.  This hands-on workshop includes all materials and instruction to learn about the ancient art of Hawaiian Tapa. In addition to making Tapa Art, girls will also make a cowrie shell necklace, learn some hula steps, twirl Poi Balls, participate in a Hawaiian ceremony, and enjoy a Hawaiian treat! Girl Scouts will complete steps towards the Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month patch.

In addition, Girl Scout Juniors may complete bridging step 2 “Look Ahead” as they talk and interact with Cadettes. Girl Scout Cadettes may complete the bridging step 1 “Pass it on” as they talk and interact with Juniors.

This is not a drop-off event. Adults must register and attend to meet Girl Scout ratios. Adults are responsible for permission slip/health history, supervising their Girl Scout(s), and assisting as needed. No tagalongs please.

A confirmation email with all event details will be sent to those registered closer to the event date. For questions, please email CDC COVID-19 guidelines. Event participants will be notified if additional action is required. 

This event accepts GSOC Cookie Dough, GSOC OC Bucks, and GSOC Juliette Dollars. Girls must complete online registration and pay in full.  Next fill out the Financial Assistance Request form.  

Registration is non-transferrable.

Includes instruction and supplies. No charge for supervising adults, but please register to attend.
