LCAD's 3rd Annual Scholarship Fundraiser & Open House

LCAD's 3rd Annual Scholarship Fundraiser & Open House

Presented by Laguna College of Art and Design at Laguna College of Art and Design

Honorary Chairs, Kate and Jared Mathis, together with Co-Chairs and LCAD Trustees Sue Greenwood and Carla Arzente, will host the annual event that empowers LCAD students to become creative leaders.

The program will include open studios and student demonstrations at Suzanne Chonette Senior Studios.

“We are thrilled to co-chair this special event that will support students who possess such great drive and talent,” said Greenwood and Arzente. “This event is one way for arts patrons and the Laguna Beach community to support greater accessibility to the high-level arts and design education at LCAD.”

Arzente, owner of saltfineart, and Greenwood, owner/director of Sue Greenwood Fine Art, have donated paintings to be raffled at the event. All proceeds will benefit LCAD’s scholarship fund. The paintings are Neighborhood Ride by Jason Kowalski, 16’x16’, Oil on wood panel, 2016 and Peonies by Michael Harnish, 24’x20,’ Oil on canvas, 2016. Kowalski received his BFA in Drawing & Painting from LCAD in 2009 and Harnish completed his BFA in Drawing & Painting in 2008 and MFA in Painting in 2010.

Jared Mathis, vice chair of LCAD’s Board of Trustees, along with his wife, Kate, have been passionate supporters of the scholarship fundraiser for three years. Mathis welcomes more arts supporters throughout Orange County to visit LCAD and to meet its students. “Eighty-five percent of our enrolled students rely on financial assistance to attend LCAD,” he said. “They are resourceful, gifted and energetic young people who deserve a wonderful college educational experience.”

LCAD students benefit from relationships with such industry leaders and partners as the Anaheim Ducks, Blizzard, Disney, DreamWorks, GoPro, Hurley, NIKE, Pixar, Sony, STANCE, Warner Bros. and many more. These high-level connections facilitate access to key internships and employment opportunities.

“Because of our notable commitment to preparing students for the rapidly changing demands of the creative arts industries, LCAD students often are offered major-specific employment and internship opportunities even prior to graduation,” said LCAD President Jonathan Burke.
