Radio drama with a sci-fi twist – Earbud Theater brings its unique storytelling style from their podcast to the live stage.
The LIVE edition of the award-winning radio drama podcast Earbud Theater is coming to the Stage Door Repertory Theatre in Anaheim this summer! Voice actors create a hilarious array of strange and monstrous characters right before your eyes, with live sound effects performed in vintage radio style. The Mad Scientists and Sound Doctors of the Earbud Lab have another double feature of strange science fiction tales to tell; this time with a special, academic theme.
First we will feature the world premiere of “Pete the Creature”, the story of a highly-competitive Science Fair at a private school for evil children.
Following that will be “Boney McGee”. One of the most beloved scripts from Earbud’s archives, it’s a tale of young love with a macabre twist, as a morbid teenage girl finds her dream prom date right in her backyard. Buried there, if we’re being specific.
Past visitors to the Earbud Lab have witnessed strange occurrences like body-snatching aliens and portals to alternate universes; who knows what will happen when we open our doors this time?
Earbud Theater is created by Casey Wolfe. Earbud Theater: Live is produced by Aurora J. Culver of On the Edge Theatre Productions and Nicholas Thurkettle. “Boney McGee” and “Pete the Creature” written by Nicholas Thurkettle. Host material by Nicholas Thurkettle and Darren T. Lodwick. Directed by Amanda Zarr, with Sound Direction by Darren T. Lodwick.
