South Korea’s prestigious 150-year-old Ewha Woman’s University has alumnae living all over the world, including California. The Southern California chapter incorporate practices and traditions from different cultures in their annual exhibition.

Seven artists who are graduates of South Korea’s prestigious Ewha Woman’s University’s will speak about their work and demonstrate techniques of traditional art on the evening of Thursday, October 5, beginning at 7:30 p.m at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center. The free event will feature artists form the Muckenthaler’s current exhibition Ewha Nokmee, which includes over sixty paintings, sculpture, ceramics, and other artworks by alumnea of Ewha University’s art department. Soonjung Hwang will offer a demonstration of paper weaving, while Keesoon Sung will demonstrate the traditional folk painting known in Korea as Minhwa. Exhibition artists Kangil Suh, Karen Namkung, Janet Seo, Saberia Lee, and Heidi Lee will present a screen presentation about their art practices and speak about their work in the current show.
