Music by Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, J.S. Bach… played by the 8 violins of the Hutchins Consort.
The Hutchins Consort is known for their mastery of the baroque music of Bach, Mozart and other classical composers, but they are equally as skilled at playing everything from Gypsy jazz to Americana and beyond. On January 21, they're bringing their popular concert Bach and Rock to St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, accompanied by pianist Maksim Velichkin. You'll hear awesome classic rock like Jimi Hendrix’ "Purple Haze" and Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song," as well as several engaging pieces by J.S. Bach. This unique ensemble performs on eight scaled violins from the tiny Treble violin, tuned one octave above the standard violin, to the Contrabass violin, tuned one octave lower than a cello, producing an amazingly wide range of sound.
