by Jeremie D. Riggleman
I use lawn art creatures as stand-ins for exploring my past and thinking about the future. Influenced by mythology, folk art, pop culture and faith, their open-ended narratives provide an entry point. This work is interested in the tension between longing (discontent) and belonging (contentment). In all the places I’ve lived, I sense myself floating between alienation and assimilation, while balancing the complex polarities both around and within.
