Move beyond painting painstakingly literal representations of objects to creating dynamically designed abstracts that draw viewers across the room and express the essence of your subject matter! Learn to capitalize on the use of quality watercolor paper, transparent watercolor paints, and a bold, experimental attitude to produce unexpectedly fresh and powerful results. In this workshop you will learn to achieve a strong visual impact using value, color harmonies, spatial divisions, and your own unique artist’s mark. You will discover your personal abstract predilection and inspiration while learning about the use of symbols for emotional impact. Half-sheet scale projects will demonstrate tips and techniques for saving light values while freely painting medium and dark values with gorgeous surface textures. Previous experience with watercolor is necessary.
