Ebène Quartet

Ebène Quartet

Presented by Segerstrom Center for the Arts at Unknown

“Ebène” means “ebony,” but there is nothing dark about this French foursome: Their playing, in a word, shimmers. Since coming to international attention after winning first prize at the ARD Music Competition in 2004, the Ebène has been thrilling audiences and critics with their superb renditions of classical favorites and arrangements of popular and jazz works. What began as a distraction in university practice rooms has resulted in one of today’s most acclaimed classical ensembles, renowned for its unique style and fresh approach to the chamber repertoire. The Fauré piece on our program was included on the album for which they won 2009 Gramophone Awards for both Recording of the Year and Chamber music.

“The Ebène Quartet is a magnificent ensemble, wonderfully thoughtful, imaginative and sensitive, as well as having an enviable tonal balance and blend … and a remarkable variety in the range and shades of expression.” - VancouverClassicalMusic.com
