The Orange Coast College Symphony, faculty and Music Department alums will star in a concert version of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd” on Friday and Saturday, May 9 and May 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert B. Moore Theatre. The concert version of the musical, with a full cast, features very light staging, according to Ricardo Soto, who will direct the OCC Symphony.
Tickets are $15 and are available at the Bursar’s Office, online at www.occtickets.com or at the door.
OCC alumnus David Stoneman performs the role of Sweeney Todd, the infamous demon barber of Fleet Street, and OCC voice instructor Beth Hansen is Mrs. Lovett, his accomplice. The Tony Award-winning musical is a darkly comic tale of a murderous butcher and is one of Sondheim’s biggest hits.
