Spring Suite and Recital Showcase

Spring Suite and Recital Showcase

Presented by V&T Classical Ballet & Dance Academy at Irvine Valley College Performing Arts Center

A light-hearted ballet celebrating the joy of Spring, energized by Peruvian flute music, choreographed by Victor & Tatiana Kasatsky, and performed by students of V&T Classical Ballet & Dance Academy.

Both Victor and Tatiana were born in Russia and received classical ballet training there. Both were principal dancers in the Moscow Classical Ballet and have shared the stage with great dancers such as Natalya Makarova, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Maya Plisetzkaya, Nadejda Pavlova, and Vladimir Malakhov. They also worked with world famous choreographers such as Pierre Lacotte and Alberto Alonso, and danced pieces choreographed by Roland Petit and George Balanchine.

In 1991, the married couple moved to the United States and joined the Los Angeles Classical Ballet. They also worked at the Long Beach Ballet Art Center, Daria Bearden Dance Studio and Pacific Coast Academy of Dance as artistic directors before realizing their dream by opening their own studio, V & T Classical Ballet & Dance Academy in 2008. The Academy features classical Russian Vaganova ballet training.

Victor and Tatiana are recipients of the Teacher Recognition Certificate from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. They have won numerous Outstanding School/Outstanding Teacher awards at regional Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP) competitions. Many of their students have excelled in ballet competitions and been awarded scholarships and/or accepted at prestigious companies around the US and Europe, which is a testament to Victor and Tatiana’s passion and success at developing promising young dancers.

In 2018, Jordan Coutts and Aviva Gelfer-Mundl competed at the Prestigious Grand Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland. In 2015, Madeline Woo competed at the Prix and now dances with the Royal Swedish Ballet. In 2012, Chisako Oga competed at the Prix, which is a rare honor at age 15. She was then invited to attend the San Francisco Ballet School with scholarship and now is a principal dancer for the Cincinnati Ballet. In 2009, Skylar Campbell received the same honor, and was subsequently invited to join the National Ballet of Canada. Being in the Corps de Ballet, Skylar starred in many solo roles and he was recently selected to be Nijinsky in Ballet Nijinsky premiering in March 2013 in Toronto. Adam Hartley joined the Oregon Ballet, Michelle Carpenter is a soloist with the Houston Ballet, Catherine Hamer danced with Stuttgart Ballet for five years; and Emily Entingh joined Boston Ballet.
