On June 23, we will be presenting a concert program titled "Rhapsody - American Choral Classics". The centerpiece of the program is an arrangement, for chorus, orchestra and solo piano, of George Gershwin's masterpiece "Rhapsody in Blue". The creator of this amazing piece is our friend Michael Fennelly, son of one of our dearest former singers and brother of another. Michael, now New York-based, is a supremely gifted young composer and pianist, and we couldn't be more excited that he has asked us to perform this piece for the very first time on the West Coast, after a world premiere at New York's Lincoln Center in October 2016. Michael will be present to play the piano, and he will be joined in the program by his wife, the gifted soprano Megan Weston.

We will be sharing the choral duties with our friends from the Orange Community Master Chorale, and we will also be joined by the Community Youth Orchestra of Southern California , a wonderful group of young musicians.

There'll be other great choral pieces on the program, featuring the works of American masters like Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein and Samuel Barber. All in all, a stirring tribute to the magic of the American choral tradition.
