Lecture: Renaissance Gardens: Art and Nature in Illuminated Manuscripts

Presented by Bowers Museum at Bowers Museum

The pages of illuminated manuscripts offer many glimpses into the culture of Renaissance gardens, which were sites of pleasure, magnificence, and experimentation. In this lecture, Bryan C. Keene, assistant curator of manuscripts at the J. Paul Getty Museum, explores the design, function, and meanings behind the many types of gardens planted in Europe between 1400-1600. Program subject to change. For additional information you may visit the museum website at www.bowers.org or call 714.567.3677.
