Catherine Bobkoski will set any oil painter up for the success of still life painting. Creating unique and harmonious compositions is the start of learning how to paint light and shadow, unique textures, and variations in surface qualities.
Six weeks will help you develop an eye for creating beauty in seemingly ordinary objects. Catherine will feature a specific topic and provide frequent demonstrations for your success at creating unique and harmonious compositions, capturing paint light and shadow, painting unique textures, and variations in surface qualities.
Students are welcome to work from either photo reference or from life, which we recommend. Bring your favorite objects or choose from a variety from fruits and flowers to textiles and reflective objects.
– For the beginner, this is a great learning experience with the introduction of procedures, the importance of values in monochromatic paint and color harmony from a limited palette.
– For all levels of experience: how to maintain a strong focal point, create beautiful brushwork, lost and found edges, placement of warm and cool temperatures; strengthen skills that will capture and pull your viewer in to the extraordinary beauty of ordinary objects.
