Through new works commissioned by the Asia/America New Music Institute (AANMI), the “elegant and exacting” ensemble Hub New Music (Boston Globe) and “virtuosic, deeply expressive shakuhachi player and composer” Kojiro Umezaki (New York Times) craft dialogues between Eastern and Western musical traditions on flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and shakuhachi.
