Ekphrasis: Live! at the Museum

Ekphrasis: Live! at the Museum

Presented by Laguna Dance Festival and Laguna Art Museum at Laguna Art Museum

Laguna Dance Festival, Laguna Art Museum and Laguna Beach Live! have joined forces to commission an original, music-and-dance piece in this exciting collaboration.

Choreographer Bernard Gaddis will present a new choreographic work to a brand-new score by composer Alan Chan, both inspired by “Lotus Land,” a 1967 oil painting by Lee Mullican from the Laguna Art Museum’s permanent collection.

The finished piece with both music and dance, will be previewed in appropriately simplified form as part of Live! at the Museum at Laguna Art Museum on the evening of August 14, following a string quartet concert by Argus Quartet.  Bernard Gaddis and Alan Chan will be present for discussion, along with representatives from Laguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach Live!, and Laguna Dance Festival.

The first fully produced, on-stage performance will take place as part of the
Laguna Dance Festival Gala Performance on
September 13, 2014
