Presented by Brea Art Gallery, The at Unknown

Monotype: A Painter’s Bridge to Printmaking

In this class, students will receive a thorough introduction to the technique of monotype. Monotype printmaking involves the creation of unique prints that combine the techniques of painting, drawing, and collage, while introducing the specific and often unpredictable quality of pressure. Through technical examples, a historical discussion of the monotype form, and a tour of the concurrent print show, students will develop a powerful sense of how their work might continue to translate through print. Miles Lewis is a member of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society and teaches and works at Valley Print Studio in Woodland Hills, CA.
