Music Man

Music Man

at Musical Theatre Village

One of the most popular musicals of the last half century, "The Music Man" will march onto the Musical Theatre Village stage July 25th through August 24th.

Debuting in 1957, Meredith Wilson's "The Music Man" is the story of a likeable con man, Harold Hill, who travels to the small town River City, Iowa, to earn his fortune.  Hill, who claims to be a professor of music, decides to convince the townspeople they need a boys' band.  His plan is to run away once the boys have paid for instruments and uniforms.   When Hill runs into old friend Marcellus, who tries to persaude him that these "stubborn Iowans" can't be fooled, Hill takes up the challenge.  Hill's scheme is moving along perfectly, until he encounters something he didn't count on- falling in love with a beautiful librarain named Marian Paroo.

A delight for the entire family, "The Music Man" captures the innocence of the early 20th-century mid-America, and the hearts of audiences young and old.

MTV is a nonprofit community based theater that has served Southern Orange County since 1992.
