JOYCE WOODSON in concert with special guest MARK TURNBULL

Joyce Woodson has been awarded both Best Song of the Year from the Western Music Association and Best Female Performer from the Will Rogers Academy of Western Artists. Her songs have been recorded by artists including Jean Prescott, Belinda Gail, and the western harmony group Journey West. Joyce’s crystal clear voice and solid guitar work are equally adept in the folk music world or wending her way through the west with her powerful songs about the land. Her strength is in storytelling, bringing characters to life as if they’re hunkered down at the campfire next to you. (www.joycewoodson.com)

Mark Turnbull is a songwriter, virtuoso guitarist, actor and poet who made his professional musical debut at age fifteen as guitarist for Glen Yarbrough. He quickly went on to serve as an opening solo act for many of the leading acts of the period. Mark’s album Father’s Day (Simplicity Himself) is a collection of songs illustrating – as the Los Angeles Times put it – that “Turnbull seems like nothing less than a performer on a spiritual quest, unwilling to pander even when he’s being funny, full of quiet conviction, poetic vigor, clever whimsy and touching insight.” (www.markturnbullsings.com)
