15th annual Elvis Festival

 "The Wonder of Elvis" remains timeless and the memory of the King of Rock and Roll lives on through his fans who gather each year for the 15th annual Elvis Festival at the Orange County Market Place in Costa Mesa. Held near the anniversary of Presley's death, which was August 16, 1977, the Festival set for Sunday, August 24 will include a day long tribute packed with Elvis tribute artists and impersonators and many other themed events in honor of one of the most beloved entertainers of all time.

"King emulators" will shake, rattle, roll and sing in his honor on four stages. Highlighted this year is the KaraokeFest 2014 Crème de la King Finals presented by Karaoke Scene Magazine. Previously held at the Los Angeles County Fair , this event pits the top 14 Elvis tribute artists selected from qualifying rounds throughout Southern California vying for over $1,000 in cash awards and prizes.

Kirk Wall of Anaheim returns for his 15th year as the Festival Host. He will greet attendees, pose for photos and perform with the Halau Hula Lani Ola Dancers singing Presley's Blue Hawaii and Rock a Hula. In addition , Wall, a regular entertainer at Knott's Berry Farm with his band known as Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, will take on a different approach to honoring Presley with bluegrass versions to many of his hits with his set titled "Lay Off My Bluegrass Shoes."

Other Elvis Tribute Artists include two time Creme de la King winner Martin Anthony presenting a show called “Sun to ’68” A Rockin’ Road Trip with The King, which is a song history of Presley's climb to fame. It includes duet numbers with singer Rachel Cyprus as Ann Margret, along with Joe Banuelos as Young Elvis, Dave Hoover as Elvis '68 and Anthony performing movie songs and other numbers.

In another performance Gary Anderson will do songs from the Aloha Concert

The event also includes the King of Cadillacs Show for cars ranging from 1950 to 1977 ; The Piled High Priscilla Hair and Elevated Elvis Hair Contest presented by Suavecito and Suavecita Pomade and Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour's King of Sundaes Ice Cream Eating Contest featuring Peanut Butter and Banana Sundaes.

Gourmet food trucks will be serving up special menu items and include Baby’s Badass Burger's "Love Me Tender" Elvis burger with peanut butter, bacon and caramelized bananas; Piaggio's Grilled Sliders del Rey with peanut butter, banana, bacon, butter, and sliders on toasted Hawaiian buns; Bacon Mania's BACON Ball sandwich duos called the Elvis and the Lisa Marie,which include peanut butter and Nutella respectively along with bananas, bacon and deep fried and Snow Ice's "The King" which features peanut butter flavored snowy ice topped with diced bananas and almonds drizzled with caramel and chocolate.

Elvis Presley Fan Clubs: Jailhouse Rockers of California and All Shook Up from Nevada will have membership info as well as memorabilia and collectibles for sale. PPW Toys will offer Mr. Potato Head Elvis Jumpsuit key ring and Spud in a special last chance opportunity to obtain these collectibles under license by Elvis Presley Enterprises and Hasbro.

 

Admission Info

All events at Elvis Festival are included in the price of admission to the swap meet, which is $2 for general, and free for children 12 and under.
