Jumpstart for a Day 2019

Jumpstart for a Day 2019

Presented by Heritage Museum of Orange County (HMOC) and Imagination Celebration at Heritage Museum of Orange County (HMOC)

Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Jumpstart delivers a research-based and cost-effective program by training college students and community volunteers to serve preschool-age children in low-income neighborhoods. Through a proven curriculum, these children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path for lifelong success.

At Jumpstart we know that families and communities are the first and most important teachers of children, so we work to engage the entire community in the effort to help children prepare for school success. Jumpstart for a Day is one of those efforts, bringing together 300 preschoolers and 200 volunteers for a one-of-a-kind literacy festival featuring fun learning activities for children, as well as music and performance groups. This year, the city of Santa Ana is honoring Jumpstart’s work by making Jumpstart for a Day the centerpiece of its Week of the Young Child celebrations.
