For its first visit to Segerstrom Center for the Arts, the Mikhailovsky Ballet of St. Petersburg brings its critically acclaimed new production for one of ballet’s masterpieces, The Flames of Paris. It is a legendary work that is rarely performed in its entirety and demands spectacular theatricality and the greatest virtuosity from its dancers. The incredible Ivan Vasiliev will star in some performances as Philippe, along with Leonid Sarafanov as the Actor. The Flames of Paris takes place during the French Revolution, as the people begin their assault on the aristocracy. Scenes take place in the Royal Palace, Versailles and the squares of Paris. Brought to the United States and the Center in collaboration with Ardani Artists, the company will perform this rarity that Laura Cappelle of DanceTabs said, “should easily become one of the Mikhailovsky’s greatest successes.”
Tickets start at $59
