The Philharmonic Society of Orange County presents Henry Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas in a masterly interpretation by renowned choreographer Mark Morris. The Barclay audiences first saw this production in 2008, a performance Los Angeles Times praised as “an elegant classic” with "hundreds of ingenious touches in translations of music to movement.” Morris danced the lead role when he debuted the piece in 1989, but he now takes the podium as a conductor and director. The performance features the Mark Morris Dance Group with live accompaniment by the Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra. The chorus roles will be sung by the Bob Cole Chamber Choir from California State University, Long Beach.
