LA Recorder Orchestra – 10th Anniversary

at Unknown

The Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra (LARO), a 30-member ensemble conducted by Thomas Axworthy, is celebrating its 10th Anniversary in September. The program, "The Tenth Anniversary",  presents a selection of pieces from the orchestra’s first decade of performances.

Included are Mozart's "Magic Flute Overture", Glinka's "Russlan and Ludmila Overture", works by Flecha, Ives, Warlock and others, and the very first piece LARO played in concert, “Margot labourez les vignes” (Arcadelt, 16th c.).

The orchestra will be playing many sizes of recorder, from the 9-inch Sopranino to the 8-foot-plus SubContraBass, and will invite the audience to sing along with one piece.
