Learn how to utilize and integrate a variety of mixed and water-based media to create a unique landscape painting in this new and exciting workshop from Chris Sullivan! Through guided instruction and live demonstration, students will learn elements of design, composition, and application techniques to achieve exciting color, shapes, and unexpected textures from their paintings. Join Chris as she demonstrates her method of combining these different mediums, letting the media work together, to produce a well-designed and cohesive landscape painting.

Supply List:

Your preferred water media to work with or a combination, and all your regular painting gear. (Watercolor, Gouache, Acrylic, Inks, watercolor crayons/pencils, etc.)

Either two 1/2 sheets ( 22x15 or approximate size) 140lb.cold press watercolor paper for using watercolor, gouache, inks, and/or liquid acrylics; Small size canvas board or stretched canvas work best for tube or fluid acrylics.

A variety of collage papers such as white gift box tissue paper, rice papers of various textures and thicknesses, patterned papers, watercolor paper pieces from old paintings; mat board pieces, corrugated and plain cardboards of various thicknesses, other papers of your choice; thick or thin fabrics in solid colors or patterned (fabrics work best with acrylics, not watercolor).

Best adhesives for fabrics are thick acrylic mat medium, YES Paste, or if the fabrics are thin, Elmers should be ok to use. Use an inexpensive 1 flat brush for application. Also, fabric can usually be attached to wet thick acrylic paint or to wet gesso.

For gluing papers, use Elmers Glue and an inexpensive ¼ flat brush for application.

A bottle of black permanent drawing ink with a dropper and dry pastels work well with watercolor, gouache, and fluid acrylics; oil pastels work best with thick acrylics; you may also use watercolor crayons or wax crayons, regular colored pencils or watercolor pencils, and white gesso.

You may also bring paper towels, a hair dryer, plastic wrap, bubble wrap with small ¼ bubbles, scissors, and anything else that you might find helpful or interesting to add to the landscape painting.

Notes:
Please note that there is a required supply list for this workshop. A short lunch break will be taken during the class. Layers are recommended as the rooms tend to be a bit cool.
