Presented by Philharmonic Society of Orange County and Imagination Celebration at Unknown

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County regrets to announce that the remainder of its 2019-20 season performances will be postponed.  Due to the increasing concerns regarding the COVID-19 outbreak and California Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent state of emergency declaration and order for all residents to stay at home until further notice, the Philharmonic Society is actively exploring the possibility of reengaging artists for future performances, with exact dates still to be determined.

DVORÁK: Romance in F minor, Op. 11
RAVEL: Tzigane
ORFF: Carmina Burana

The Orange County Youth Symphony presents it monumental 50th season finale, featuring Sarah Chang, one of the foremost violinists of our time, in Dvorák’s ravishing Romance in F minor and Ravel’s virtuosic Tzigane. Carl Orff’s exhilarating showpiece, Carmina Burana, arguably the most iconic choral work of the twentieth century, brings the concert to a climactic conclusion.

Recognized as one of the foremost violinists of our time, Sarah Chang has performed with the most esteemed orchestras, conductors and accompanists in an international career spanning more than two decades. Since her debut with the New York Philharmonic at the age of eight, Ms. Chang has dazzled audiences with her technical virtuosity and emotional depth.

Founded in 1970, the Orange County Youth Symphony is the official youth orchestra of Orange County. The diverse roster represents student musicians from nearly 50 high school and college programs from San Clemente to Fullerton and beyond. The Orange County Youth Symphony community of young musicians and their families is particularly committed to advancing and sharing the intercultural love of orchestral music. They serve as music ambassadors to each other and to the local schools, districts, and cities. With the support of a small staff and board, the orchestra is energetically led by the music director and conductor, Johannes Müller Stosch.
