Three Day Workshop: Wednesdays October 9, 16, 23, 2019 from 1:00 – 4:00pm

October 9: Marbelizing How to float acrylic colors and create designs on thickened water, and then transferring the designs to archival papers. This technique can be adapted to other items as well as paper, fabric, ceramics,etc.

October 16: Paper Dyeing Create all kinds of designs on papers, using Shibori techniques such as scrunch and run, pole wraps, etc. Stitching on papers will be discussed, as well as other techniques originally developed for silk but adapted to papers. These papers are ideal for use in collage.

October 23: Collage Various glues and methods of adhering decorative papers to a background will be demonstrated and discussed. Archival transfers will also be discussed for individual study. Backgrounds for collage will include monotypes that students may have, unfinished watercolors, or primed small canvases.

This class series is held on three consecutive Wednesdays in the Art Room of the Susi Q.

Teacher:
Mada Leach recently retired from running the education program for the Festival of Arts where she exhibited her work for more than 25 years. She continues to work in her studio and teach workshops and classes.

This Class is part of LOCA’s Senior Art Escapes program at the Art Room in the Laguna Beach Community and Susi Q Senior Center. Enrollment is limited to students 50 yrs and up.
