The story follows Laila and Ahmed as they undergo a magical journey through beautiful pre-war Syria. As they explore, the two children discover sides of Syria’s rich history, culture, and heritage that often go unseen and at the same time learn important lessons about themselves and the beauty of travel.

About the Author – Nushin Alloo

Nushin Alloo is a global strategist, writer and former U.S. diplomat.  She was inspired to write The Adventures of Laila and Ahmed in Syria during the Syrian civil war, while working with refugees in Jordan and Greece.

About the Artist – Shadia Kassem

Shadia Kassem is an accomplished illustrator, painter, and artist. Born and raised in Syria, Shadia graduated with a degree in art from the University of Damascus. Her enchanting and detailed illustrations fill the pages of The Adventures of Laila and Ahmed in Syria.
