Czech Composer Antonin Dvorak came to the U.S. at the end of the 19th century and was immediately immersed into a world of new sounds. Inspired by the sounds of African-American spirituals, Dvorak led a movement that encouraged American composers to cultivate their own musical style, creating a unique American sound. Join Concordia Sinfonietta as they perform Dvorak’s famous Symphony No. 9. The concert will open with Symphony #1 by Florence Price, based on her studies of Dvorak's great work.
