"The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha"

Immerse yourself in the Words and Music of the Time of Cervantes, when Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and Phil Proctor come together to bring Don Quixote to life! Capturing the high comedy, pathos and self-reflexive surrealism of the world’s most popular novel, this innovative production takes listeners into the phantasmic world of the famous Knight of La Mancha. With projected images and lighting highlighting Los Angeles Guitar Quartet’s brilliant arrangements of music from Spain’s Golden Age, the result is inspired story-telling in its most elevated form. Phil Proctor (celebrated actor/comedian from the popular “Firesign Theatre troupe) will put his vocal virtuosity on display as he embodies over a dozen different characters in a script adapted by Los Angeles Guitar Quartet member William Kanengiser.  Premiered in 2008 with John Cleese (of Monty Python fame), Los Angeles Guitar Quartet has toured this entrancing work with Phil Proctor for six years, and filmed a live performance of it at the Sheldon Theatre in St. Louis for Mel Bay Recordings. Weaving together live narration and music into a unique sonic atmosphere, it’s a multi-media show that has transported and delighted audiences around the US.
