Author Anita Abriel (who also writes as Anita Hughes) will introduce her new book, “The Light After the War,” inspired by her mother’s true story of survival during World War II.
Author Anita Abriel (who also writes as Anita Hughes) will introduce her new book, “The Light After the War,” inspired by her mother’s true story of survival during World War II. Abriel’s book chronicles the journey of two young women from Hungary, who escape from a train headed for Auschwitz and spend the rest of the war hiding on an Austrian farm. It is a memorable tale of true friendship, love, endurance and survival.
Anita Abriel was born in Sydney, Australia. She received a BA in English Literature with a minor in Creative Writing from Bard College. She currently lives in Dana Point, California with her family.
Lectures are held in the Central Library Friends Room. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations at newoportbeachlibrary.org/calendar are recommended. Books will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
