The Festival Singers of Orange County opens its 2019 – 2020 season with a concert that celebrates Christmas, Hanukkah and the Winter Solstice.
The program features such popular holiday songs of the last century as The Little Drummer Boy with 4-hand piano accompaniment, Light One Candle, Grown Up Christmas List, Mary, Did You Know? as well as new arrangements of traditional carols such as Joy to the World and Fum, Fum, Fum with 4-hand piano accompaniment; He is Born and Brightest and Best accompanied by piano and violin; and Masters in this Hall. An opportunity to sing along is included in the program. Following the concert is a reception with festive desserts.
Special guest instrumentalists are Stephen Green, violin and Carolyn Van Velzer, keyboard. Ms Van Velzer has worked full-time as a professional accompanist in six different states and in England. She has been an accompanist for the Southern California Vocal Association High School Honor Choirs and the American Choral Directors Association All-State Honor Choir. She currently serves in her long-time position as piano accompanist for St. John Chrysostom Episcopal Church in Rancho Santa Margarita.
